‘Begin with the End in Mind’

New beginning screen shotStephen Covey, was best-known for his most popular book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. One chapter of his book, ‘Begin with the End in Mind’, sifts through science and value of goal setting. Creating a personal mission statement that resonates and aligns with your personal values is metaphorically understood as leaning a ladder or your rope alongside the wall or precipice you are ready to climb.  Imagine your surprise at the end of your journey or climb to discover that you’ve arrived at the wrong destination.  Covey was adamant in building self-awareness or practicing active self-reflection to harmonize every step of your journey with your morals, values and ethics.

As you begin your graduate journey, take time to actively reflect on your destination.
